If you anticipate undergoing chemotherapy, it's wise to consult with us before losing your hair. This will help us to more closely match your natural style and color. Typically, hair begins falling out approximately 2 weeks after your first chemo treatment. (Not all chemo results in hair loss -- please check with your doctor about your specific treatment.) If your hair is long, you may consider having it cut short so that your initial hair loss is less noticeable. Once it starts falling out, some women have their heads shaved to help them feel more in control and to eliminate waking up to itchy hair all over the pillow.
Be sure to check with your insurance carrier -- if you have a prescription from your doctor for a "cranial prosthesis," your insurance may cover all or a portion of the cost of your wig. As an accredited medical supplier, Euphoria can bill your insurance carrier for you if you have a wig benefit. We would be happy to assist you in determining whether you have coverage.
